I'm trying to learn a little more about my new Brutalina (2013 RR) and disambled her a little....
When I took off the airbox to check out the snorkles I was somewhat upset. Just check out the pics from inside: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are the snorkles that are different from the 1078: ![]() There are 3! (not 4) round tubes with holes (for screws??) inside the airbox. I cannot see any "order" or these tubes so. But imho they cut the airflow dramatically as they are in the near of the velocity stacks. What is the function of these ??I've read here that some tuners modify the airbox to increase hp - may be they cut these tubes off ?? What are your thoughts on this?? Jochen

Got new info.
Also the 2011 RR got these tubes in it's airbox . So that is "normal".These tube are about 2" high, the airbox itself only is app. 4,4" high. And the velocity stacks stick in a lot........ What is the use of these tubes? Some kind of Helmholtz resonators? Do they improve hp and torque or do theys cut them only to bring noise down to the latest requirements? I'm thinking of eliminating them to hear the Diva screeeeeeam .All models prior to the 990/1090 did not have these tubes........ Really nobody an idea? Jochen

All those 'bits' are there for a reason - either to smooth the power/torque curve or for noise reduction. Unless you have lots of dyno time I would be reticent to play around with something that has had years of development.

The normal mod is to remove the rubber insert in the inlet, your last pic.

Second and third sections look relevant... This is where Noel (knurl) might chime in? |

I will put my money on it being a noise issue, to get past the new EU laws.
