Finally decided to ride to work today. It is about a 10 mile ride. A quarter mile to work I noticed that I had no rear brakes. Thank God we use 90% front brakes. As soon as I got to work the bike leaked what looks like almost all of the coolant. I took out the right fairing and looked at the fuse box. Since my Workshop Manual is at home, which of the 7 15amp blue fuses is for the cooling fan? I'm thinking and hoping that it is just the fuse and nothing else. Thanks in advance for your help.

I own a 1078 F4, on the R/H side of the bike the fan fuse is second last fuse going from left to right.Hopefully your model is the same.Leave the panel off and start the bike and see if the fans kick in at around 97 degrees C.Sounds to me like there is air trapped in the cooling system or coolant level is above the min mark in the coolant bottle.Common problem with MVs if coolant is spewing out.Hope I am of some help.

What more info can you give us?
If your bike is over filled on fluids it will leak or if air is in the system. Like said start her up and let her get up to 210. You can fill the fans kick on and blow hot air out of the fairing. Easy to take the fairing off and see. This would also have nothing to do with no rear brake. I hardly ever use my rear brake. On mine I could not lock up the rear wheel even if I tried. Let me track down my book and I will let you know which fuse runs the fans. |

Fan fuse is in the manual labeled E-5. It is also the second one from the spare. I have a 1000R but it should be the same. Hope this helps.

Lost rear brake because it ran too hot that the it boiled the fluid. I am very surprised it did not shut off when I saw about 260 on the temp guage.
I put coolant again up to the level of the reserve tank and started her up run until 245 with fairings off. The fan did not kick in so I had to shut the bike and fluid came out again.
