Hello guys.
What's your transmision set up in circuit?
Mine actually is OEM set up:

1.-Model :F4MY10
2.-Sprocket:15
3.-Crown:41
4.-Model and pitch chain:
Regina 525 ZRPK
5.- Tires:
Pirelli Superbike slik 190/55

Next track day I want to , step by step:
1.-Model :F4MY10
2.-Sprocket:14 ( one less)
3.-Crown:41 ( the same)
4.-Model and pitch chain:
Regina 525 ZRPK (the same)
5.- Tires:
Big Pirelli Superbike sliks 200/60

In the future I would like test, pitch chain 520.
Please ,What's your set up in circuit?

Phil;
check what Jorge is saying;
he was geared 15x41=2.734X1, he is now 14x41=2.928x1
he is a little shorter than Brutale gearing 15x43=2.867X1
you are 15x39=2.6x1
and he is using shorter tires, 60 vs 65(yes 200 vs 195)

you're 12% taller (ignoring the tires)

go back and look for Carl's post on his SPR and gearing

Well, Spain, you definitely want the 520 chain. Lighter and stronger, I'm told.

In all honesty if you are seriously racing this bike, a 520 non 'O'ring chain would certainly be lighter and give less drag than an 'O/X-ring chain, but you would be well advised to change it on a very regular basis in order to stay safe.

The advantage gained by doing this on a track day bike which is basically only for 'fun', would be at very best 'minimal' and most likely unperceivable, whereas the carnage it could cause should it snap could prove to be be catastrophic.

This sort of modification is all well and good but I would advise to be safe and change the chain every meeting to minimize the risk.

170-180 bhp and a 520 chain................not the way I would go personally on a bike just to do track days.

I would strongly advise that you price up a new set of crankcases, possibly even a crank too, not forgetting with the labor to put it all back together again before committing yourself to the change.

Good read this. I don't know anybody who uses non o-ring chains, so I can't comment on that.
But every single 1000cc rider I have spoken to, or looked at in the pit-lane, use 520 o-ring chains Ade.
I have been using 520 chains for 3 years, 1 chain per season approx, and my bike has to pull a fat bugger along, not like those small young fella's.

When I ran a cheap chain on my 750 many years ago!! My pal Dave Hagen who was a crew chief for the Crescent Suzuki factory Suzuki SB team pointed out to me that a new crank from MV Agusta for a 750 was 4000, cases were extra!! that was 6-7 years ago too.

I freaked out as he was right!!

The point being is that the advantages gained using a lightweight 520 chain would be virtually unperceivable, yet the potential liability should it snap could prove very costly indeed should it go 'Tits-Up', its only right that Spain realizes that to be the case.

I agree with the principle, but what's the reality? Seriously, I don't know what the frequency for broken chains is, nor do I know what the tensile stress applied by a big horsepower bike may be, or the resistance to breakage for various chains. (Where's Noel when you need him?)

I would tend to go with the beefiest chain reasonable, or most likely, the chain recommended by the manufacturer. Most of us don't have the resources to replace a chain every race. But, then again, most of us don't stress a machine like that.

Do I sound conflicted?

uffff, two experts two opinions completly differents, my good :
Adecritten says a chain of 520 new each session !
Donsy a chain of 520 new and competing annually, and he's a big man !!
Too much difference of opinion. !
My use:
I try to go a track session each month, trying to improve all time, I'm special racing for time, not for positions, may be next year, I would like try any race mv agusta intercup.
