Default Alinghi F4

Can anyone tell me a little bit about this limited edition F4? I know Alkadesign did a replica version, but can anyone tell me a little about the actual ALinghi and why a tribute was designed for them in the first place?

I believe that the Alinghi F4 was by Alkadesign, not from MV.

Found this and it seems to bear that out:
