my sr 750 has started idling rough when it gets hot. it only seems to do it in stop start traffic.it's going to the mechanic next week i just want to try and narrow down what could cause it

check the hose clamps on the intakes.......guaranteed they're loose
also the check the vacuum tubes and caps* from the throttle bodies to the side fittings

*on my '05 they were cracked and leaking

fixed noel your diagnosis was spot on as usual all 4 caps were cracked/split i think you should write a book.
we can call it dr knurl's guide to mv mechanics lol

the manual says replace all the in-tank lines every 3 years......

i read that as THEY know they are using low grade lines......forget ethanol, they wrote that 13 years ago....before ethanol

so all fuel system rubber is suspect.....ozone eats it....it shrinks or cracks

i have 2 MVs both bought used...1st thing i did? replaced fuel lines, fuel filters, vacuum lines, caps and tightened the intake clamps

i started working on exotic cars in '59...if they didn't run right you looked for air leaks...... spray butane at it, if the engine changes sound... its leaking

when you have some time get a tube of dielectric grease and lube EVERY electrical connector on the bike......i live 3 blocks from the Pacific Ocean......and EVERYTHING corrodes....

yet, i have NO electrical problems.......OK! my Aprilia RSVR eats stators

my bikes are never on a battery tender.....and they all get 5-7years on a stock battery.....
except BMWs they're battery sluts
coming up on 1,400,000 mi on bikes

not fixed went for a ride today and the problem has returned.
im going back to my mechanics tomorrow to check the vacuum hoses and clamps.

all the clamps were loose this seems to have fixed it running rough but the idle is still rough when it gets hot.
it also slalls occasionally when idling.
tried to check the sensor but the manual does not really tell you how to do it?

i think it's time to take it to an official mv dealer

still idling rough i'm going to the mv dealer thursday will get them to check the airtube sensor and the coils is there anything else it could be?
