I think that the KTM RC8 is not too faster than the Ducati 848. 1.22Kg/Hp for RC8, 1.25Kg/Hp for 848 (1.08Kg/Hp for the 1098). Also, everything is adjustable on the RC8 (rider's position). I think that it will be more friendly to ride than the 848. And i like it much better. What do you think?

I'd recommend an entirely different approach. You've stated that you're not quite comfortable with a high-bhp sportbike and that you like Bimota. Have you considered getting a Bimota DB4? 904 CC Ducati twin, 75 bhp, amazing chassis, and style for the next 20 years. Ride that for a while, then either sell it for close to what you paid for it, or keep it as a fine addition to any collection.
I'd avoid BMW's HP line until you're REALLY comfortable with your riding. I have an HP2, and can attest that it is a very dangerous toy. The whole point of the HP line is to take the R-engine, remove the counterbalancers, lighten and add horsepower. IMHO the HPs are very uncompromising. We have a world-famous twisty road "The Dragon" a few hours from my house... After the 1098 became available in America at least one 1098 was totaled per weekend on that road for the first six or eight weeks. It was quite humorous when they announced that the streak had been broken. The high torque of the 1098 make it very susceptible to high-siding... Hope this is useful! Good luck with your new bike! Cheers! |
