After what I can only describe as more support in the way of PM's and e-mails asking me to continue on here I have decided to go against my self imposed abstention.

Many forum members have advised me not to be chased away by some elitist member who (in their opinion) does more harm than good to the MV marque that we all love so much.
Just for interest::
The definition of a Forum is:

1. a meeting or assembly for the open discussion of subjects of public interest
2. a medium for open discussion, such as a magazine
3. a public meeting place for open discussion
4. a court; tribunal
5. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) (in South Africa) a pressure group of leaders or representatives, esp Black leaders or representatives
6. (Historical Terms) (in ancient Italy) an open space, usually rectangular in shape, serving as a city's marketplace and centre of public business

There is no definition that says:

''A Chassis number should be required to post in some sections''
''Nothing about actually owning an MV either''

So, in a nutshell:
I will post in whatever section I decide to that I feel my input is valuable,
I will not be ostracised to the ''Other Marques section''
I AM and always will be a huge MV fan and ex owner, I really want MV to succeed in business and survive and oneday when an MV model ticks all my boxes again I will own what would be my 4th Brand New MV,
I will say when I think MV have screwed up as I don't have the ''rose tinted glasses of some members'' for who MV can do no wrong.

I hope that goes down ok with the vast majority of you because this is a truly good forum and if it doesn't go down too well with a certain member I'm sorry about that but I really don't give a f**k.

If Kindy Is This Much Fun - What will 1st Class be like?

OMG - STOP THAT! I thought you'd leave that Dorothy Dixer alone but Sir I my hat is off to you on that pick up! <insert picture of yours truly dipping his lid in a humbling manner here>

I started the day with a grin on my face (Thank you again Stephen Wood) but this belly laugh is bordering on painful, albeit in a quite delicious way.

Let us await the plethora's arrival*...........

*(At this pointing I literally have tears running down my face - I shall log off to regain my composure - god I love this forum! )

Okay, Forum Rules....

1. Definitely no "kissing and making up". We are all grown men so please act like it.

2. No "Ignore Button" pressing. If you do that you'll be missing all the fun the rest of us are having with each other.

3. No "topping oneself". Not unless you send all your MVs to me before you do it MVista.

4. Absolutely, definitely, certainly, positively, unquestionably, categorically no Ducti buying.

5. No BIG words.

:)

Rob,sorry mate but I am not gay, happily married (well I am married and she is happy),but I do love the MV mark and I am doing my best to solve the weak points in these wonderful machines. The only thing I dont understand with this great forum is like the shit you guys carry on with bagging each other, are you just having fun or are you serious.Let me know because I dont understand where your coming from.:wtf:

#160 ·
Kieran and Joe,is their another forum these guys can personally demoral each other to the death rather than do it here on the MV forum. There are so many great members on this forum that just love motorcycles and especially MVs.I feel proud to be a member but when I see this sort of crap it degrades the forum somewhat, just my opinion.

I've seen both sides & I can clearly see you and Stephen are trolling this site. If you have valuable input, then fine. If you are here have a little "rib-rubbing", that's fine too.
It seems you two (stephen mostly, not as much as you) have came back to stir shit up. Well, do you like smelling shit? (only a pun, and made for a thought)

You were welcomed back, even by Rob. Then Stephen comes in and starts name calling and acting like a 3 yr old, making personal threats, ect. And you want to back his choices?
I do think you have way more Mv knowledge than most on this forum, but with him as your sidekick... well, it just ruins anything you have to say.
Welcome back Mike, hope you can have an Mv next to your current bike. To me, that would be the perfect combo (just not Stephens bike and him with it).

Everyone knows that Rob bleeds Mv's, so lets let him give his thoughts as we'll let you give yours.... but no one needs to threaten or bring anyone's family into this, that's taking it too far.

A couple of things:

Robs welcome back :jsm: thats trolling and goading of the first degree.

You really need to watch a little closer, theres an awful lot of goading going on, when I had the BMW every reply from a certain member turned into that 'god awful BMW'

Steves posts are his own work, he also goes back along way with Rob as do a few other members

I think mike and steve are just regular down to earth type guys like myself. I think the frustration is when some of the, how shall I say this, very passionate mv owners (who sometimes seem a bit close minded imo) start talking down on other makes or opinions. Then it is hard not to get defensive. Same thing happened in my "decision thread". Just asking for advice and suddenly felt like everyone was dumping on me for liking something else beside an mv. I think we all like MV otherwise none of us would be here. Some people are more passionate about mv than others, but they should still accept that some other bikes are cool too and not belittle people who like those other brands as well. That is really my only complaint with this site. Otherwise, as Mike said, I think this forum is fun and I enjoy it more than any other forum.

#187 ·
Dude... you referenced this thread with a show from Dawson's Creek, be happy we only nagged you a little for that! :stickpoke

@ Mike; sorry... I really thought he: 1.) didn't know he was the guy in question or 2.) forgot he was the guy in question. Either way, it looked honest to me.

I love my Mv, but that doesn't mean I woldn't have a Aprilia or Ducati, or even both. If I had the money, I'd have as many bikes as "quad-turbo" on here (90!!!! really??).

To be honest, I've liked reading this thread. It's quite boring sometimes on the site and a little action is what we all need sometimes. But we all need to know where to stop and not cross certain lines. Someone may say something about your bike, that doesn't make it right at threaten or bring family members into the discussion.

Please post some pics of your new bike, I'd like to see what I can't afford. :errr:

Nice car too! I haven't been able to even see one of those in person yet. :banghead:

At the end of the day here guys, Some of what is being said here probably shouldn't be. And no doubt there has been some lines crossed whether is be in this thread of threads in the past. But we are all adults and make the decision to read, react and post.
Every member here has something to offer.

#186 ·
I can safely say that I have always enjoyed the banter and debates that are exchanged here. There isn't a member here that wouldn't like to buy drink and talk some crap with. I feel I have made some great friends which I look forward to one day getting the pleasure of meeting in person. The few members that I have met have been absolute gentlemen and great personalities which I hope to catch up with further in the future.
Mike, Stephen, Rob, Pete are all awesome, knowledgeable, intelligent and obviously passionate guys....IMHO Its members like this that makes this forum great.

At the end of the day, it's only a Brand name on the badge..

.

We're only talking about bikes correct ? :stickpoke

You know bits of metal, plastic and rubber...

Maybe we should change the subject to something less controversial like religion, politics or football.

As long as we get off the subject of day time Gay Lord soap operas..

;)

I enjoy being the Devils Advocate.

quote]

Me too. :)

So for once a serious question from me:

Mikef4uk if your return to the forum is so innocent, why the big announcement? Why not just log on and start posting?

A serious statement too:

As for the input from the other member of the "Cheshire Set", Mr. Wood you should be ashamed of yourself. Not cool at all.
Sorry I'm just playing Devils Advocate now.
Why don't you have the balls to tell MRview to grow up or tell him he should be ashamed of himself when he posts this type of crap, do you really think he posts crap like this to make people feel better about themselves? I think you need to wake up and smell the cofe my friend.

MrView
My apologies as I missed your question to me. In the spirit of camaraderie that this forum is (largely) based on, I can certainly & happily answer your questions, help you understand the reasons & hopefully in turn understand yourself a little better. This time I shall not make as complex as the MV parable that was an error on my part based on overestimation.

It is a two part question that you asked which is excellent as it allows for more thorough analysis including whys, hows, cause & effect.

Firstly, we are referring to the "" symbol, commonly known as a wanker in the UK & Australia & jerk off in the US. Why did you add this? The aim of using that symbol is to offend and/or insult its intended recipient. In this case I would guess on an educated basis its intention was to try and achieve both those goals.

Further why? I believe that you wanted to offend and insult and delved into your toolbox (note: this is a metaphor) to do so. Sadly, that toolbox was devoid of any equipment.

It is largely accepted that the lowest form and last resort of retort is name calling and/or undesirable gestures - in your zeal to offend and insult, having found your toolbox empty you had no choice but to avail yourself of what was at your disposal. Perfectly understandable in the circumstances.

If I can further help you understand yourself better and if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask as I am only too happy to assist.

Please remember you did ask and this advice is not unsolicited. Of course, I would however, caution against asking further questions to which you may not like the answer.

Dear MVista

Stephen Wood has told me to grow some balls and tell you to grow up and be ashamed of yourself when you post "crap" on this forum. You are not making people feel better about themselves. Furthermore I must wake up and smell the coffee.

:blah: :blah: :blah:

Dear Stephen Wood

Grow up.

Finally this thread is starting to show a little more of what I have found sets this forum apart from others: the adult conversation, seriously the threats, etc are not appropriate or acceptable

S**t, had to have quick google about that one,
Dot 5.1 is ok, good stuff!!, but we all now the dangers of Dot 5 ?....................it's the silicon one that WILL cause all your seals to expand and wreck your brakes/clutch

MVista's thoughs towards stephen are not all bad:

I got this idea from the F3 section where Stephen W. posted his desktop, I thought to myself "How cool I wonder what eveyone else has?" Ok, so I showed you mine, now let's see yours

Original Idea:
View attachment 56717

see they can kiss and make up
I think you'll find there is a Stephen Wood and a Stephen W :jsm:

Maybe sanity can return to this pleasant MV world...... :)
I prefer to keep the discourse civil (Carl and Elton come to mind), but I prefer those on the edge of sanity (Carl and Elton come to mind).....

Yes Chuck, I've met Rob. In three different countries.
Rob has been a guest in our home in New Zealand and we have been a guest in his home in Australia. We were both at the Bubbalicious III in 2011.
He's not perfect. I'm not perfect.
In fact we are not really all that alike.
He's a night owl, I'm a homing pigeon. He calls me Captain Sleepy, and rightfully so. He speaks fluent Italian, I've heard of Italy. He can cook really nice meals, I thank Melanie for keeping me alive because without her, I'd starve to death. He has a goatie, I have a beard. He has been blessed with a lovely son & daughter, I have a dog.
I could go on but you get the idea. Plenty of differences there.
But we are great friends.
Dave.
