Weight of Rotors ?
To make a long story short. There is no way I can get another bike out of various reasons. Plus I would never get any decent money for my beloved 11 year old.
Now last Year I put Marchesini Ultralights on my F4 and the handling improved dramatically, as might almost every one would have imagined.
Recently I bought even some Moto Corse titanium mufflers.
Now I think I will try to improve the old gal further.
We speak a lot about unsprung weight.
So what is the weight of stock 310mm rotors ?
What is the weight of the stock rear rotor ?
What is the weight of alternatives ?
Your input would be really appreciated and is might interesting for fellow riders.

This is in deed enlightening and astonishing.
The summary is that You can't even save much weight unless You have an older bike.
My F4S has, according to the Manual, steel flanged 310mm discs.
Swopping them to F4 1000S 310 mm alloy flanged discs is saving around 750 gr or 1,5 lbs.
This is in my eyes probably the way to go than.
Everything else seams to be weight wise pretty much in the same league.
Why dont you go composite??

It's kind of like having an F4 with the oem Brembo Superlight wheels, you can't get much more weight reduction even if you get BST's.
Of course you could the carbon rotors route, but they would cost almost as much as your F4 750 :stickpoke
They can't weigh nothing I imagine. At least not a 5 to 6 lbs weight saving as I read in other posts.
What is out there on alternatives, besides the options 999 posted.
I saw Armstrong discs for an example.
How about Carbon and Ceramic is this on the market ?
However I don't plan to build a track weapon.
I just want to improve my bike for road use, and might an occasional track experience in the future.
And there I think is steel still the best solution.
i dont know where to get the Breaktech CMC
but here about the weight difference:
Honda OE 310mm stainless: 3lbs 4.4oz at 5mm thick [1486grams]
BrakeTech 310mm Iron: 2lbs 15.0oz at 5mm thick [1332grams]
BrakeTech 310mm CMC: 1lb 5.6oz at 5mm thick [612grams]

They have a matching rear rotor as well, but you'll have to grid a bit of the rear bracket down for it to fit properly (easily done, comes with instructions).

I'm sure there's other dealers on here that have similar kit as well.
I have a pair of stock 310mm rotors from an SPR and a pair of 320mm rotors from Brake tech and they weigh exactly the same: 1417 grams each.
