Does this look like a radiator leak?

Sigh. Looks like another radiator leak?

Here we go again. Noticed coolant on the windscreen, triple clamp, etc. Fortunately, no signs of overheating and my coolant level is still pretty high....maybe too high.

I called Spectrum since I'm taking my bike in for service next week and told them I'm out of warranty and if it can be repair vs replaced. The service manager mentioned there's a place in Fontana that they've used for radiator repairs so that may be an alternative. If it works out, I'll let everyone know.

This was my fear when I couldn't extend my warranty last year. Missed it by two weeks. If this is going to be a continual problem, I'm going to need a new bike - with a warranty!

The metal tubing appears to have corroded through and has porosity. Are those tears in the rubber? Time to replace those parts....make sure you rinse that coolant off of all PAINTED surfaces...it is corrosive to paint.

There are several places in the country that specialize in motorcycle radiator repair. Water cooled dirt bikes are the main stay of their business. You can imagine why. Automotive radiator shops are well experienced in fixing aluminum radiators, but don't always understand the strains put on motorcycle radiators. Do a google search of motorcycle radiator repairs to find an experienced shop. There's one in Utah that can perform miracles and has a guarantee on their work. Pretty reasonable prices, too.

may not be a radiator leak. let the run sit and idle and get warm with fairings off and try to investigate. or better yet, run it pretty hard with no fairings and then look. a little investigating could save some money. you won't look silly, brutes do it every day.

That's exactly what my radiator leak looked like. The good news is that I had bought the extended warranty and was able to use it -- Pro Italia installed a new radiator for me a few weeks ago that has some beefy mounting tab welds, much more solid than the original unit. So far, so good.

Hi Gregg. I remember what you said when we met at Pro Italia a few weeks ago. From what I can see, I can see some trickling on the headers. When we met, it was really more of just a pool of fluid on the garage floor but since earlier this week , it's drips of coolant on different parts of the bike. :(

I did send and e-mail to Cagiva USA to see if they can help out, even though the bike is out of warranty and I had the original radiator replaced once before.

Stopped by Pro Italia today. The price of a new radiator is $500 not as bad as I thought. I was thinking $700 to $800. Also found out the Pro Italia can get new 2007 F4R and would sell them for around $15.5 to $16K. Trade-in on an 2006 S model is around $9,500.

Get it repaired for $50. Probably better than a new one if the right people do it.

Allan I had a leak like that last spring, upper left inside of upper rad. I could see it spritz out by using a flashlight. It went to shop and they replaced hoses insisting there was no rad leak. When bike was home, of course, on my first ride it again leaked. I called shop back and they picked bike up again and I actually used a sharpy marker to outline the leak. Rad was replaced under warranty, but apparently they all have a weakness in that same place, so try to avoid big bumps and certainly no wheelies, etc.
