Hi guys,

have had my first 1000km service and have done about 1400kms now.

1) on the first service they said they changed whatever it is in the clutch to stop it chattering and shuttering.... we'll below 4000rpm it still sounds like and feels like its going to fall out the side of the bike......
is this normal?

2) also i have had a few issues with the bike turning off... if i start her when cold... she idols for a bit and when i jump on blip throttle sometimes it turns off. also when in first and rolling to the end of the drive way i pull clutch in and the revs drop and sometimes the bike turns off also....

3) final issue is ones shes nice and hot and been running for 30min or so.... the right side of the bike (frame, sub frame and my leg, get so hot its almost unbearable. the chassis (main section on right side) gets so hot you cant touch it at all. not even for half a second. when i have leathers on i cant feel it but with just jeans im on fire. i know the exhaust runs out the right side but damnnn.....
normal or does mine have to go back?
temp gauge is normal!

can anyone give me more information on this or tell me if i should worry or not....

cheers

phil

My dealer replaced the clutch friction plate. The replacement was much thicker that the original. I noticed that the shifts were smoother, quieter, and more responsive. I don't notice any excessive noise that you're mentioning.

It sounds like your bike is running a lot hotter than mine. I go on 4-5 hour rides with jeans, running shoes and low cut socks on. I know, I know I need a pair of boots and am looking to buy a pair of Sidi's soon. I do notice some heat by my ankle where it's not covered by my shoe and also up the right side about to my knee but no where near what you're describing.

Sorry to not have a solution but just posting to give you some info of another F3. Hopefully your dealer can fix you right up. But I would definately call them up!

1. Normal. The rubbers and replacement parts don't hide the rattle on mine either. Its noisier than my last few bikes but far less noisy than some I've owned.

2. Define 'blip'. People come over and prat around with the throttle on my bike in the pits all the time. Little blips of less than a 1000 rpm often cause the engine to die. Similar to flatslides. A mix of fueling and everything in the ride by wire unable to keep up is my opinion.

3. Externally the bike runs freaking hot. I could fry an egg on it after 9 laps in 20 degree heat. Depending on your climate i wouldn't be surprised you can feel your leg cooking. So long as the running temp is okay i wouldn't worry (aside from slow cooking your shanks). Won't be the last hot running bike ever built. Perhaps stuff some tomatoes and spices in your socks. Do the job properly :)

Edit: i would still call the dealer for piece of mind. You never know.

hey guys thanks for the feedback. the issue with the australian dealer is..... once you have purchased the bike... they no longer give a shit about you.
they just go - yeh na all normal. "what map am i running" oh we dont know. just what they supplied. "is my clutch rattle normal." yeh F3 rattles flat out. "why does it tun off" oh we dont know.
they dont even try and answer your questions.

does anyone in Melb know of anyone else who will look after F3's and actually give a shit about their client?
for the money we pay for service and running cost and whatever.... i want them to answer my questions.... or at least try.

but thanks anyway guys.

If you think the F3 is hot, try a Panigale!!

ok so the Owner of MV imports Australia happen to call me. i sent an email to my dealer and they obviously dont know why the clutch is chattering so much so they have forwarded the email on.

This bloke Sorted out all my questions. Very nice guy and new new what he was talking about.
my dealer has sont the clutch upgrade S/B 98 but S/B 95 was not done. (cush drive update)

Bike will be going back for this second update and hopefully the clutch noise will be sorted.
will touch base once i get the bike back.

(was never judging the brand by the dealer... was simply judging the dealer). we have 2 agustas and i dont think ill ever buy another bike. there is no better brand in my opiniion.
just my bike was # 271 built and i had one of the first in the country.... these issues are going to pop up... but the dealer should be answering my questions...
we'll see how we go now....

thanks for your input. hopefully ill get this thing sorted asap...

cheers
