So after some ramping around town at night, I had to do something about the lighting as it SUCKS the donkey balls. Like any bike that I'd own, HID's or Xenon's are a must have!
And they are cheap.
So instead of paying $145 euros for MV branded ones. I paid $47.00 USD for pretty much the same thing. I've installed these before and it's quite easy. I'll try to post some pics as I go along installing it when it arrives.
I haven't heard of the factory signals in the rear vent, but I'm going to use some small LED amber lights with load resistors so there won't be any of the hyper flashing. Looks too tight to have factory turn signals in the tail.
Once the parts arrive, and I get cracking on it, I'll post pics.
I tried to do this recently, I'm on my 4th set of flashers now, so far nothing that will fit neatly inside the rear tail section. I am interested to see what you come up with though.

Top man! I have bought some led type flashers to mount behind mesh too. I am pretty sure the standard ones are too big.
I must admit I haven't tackled it yet though as I have been doing lots of other mods at the same time, These pics really help.
My concern was the UK laws with how visible they will be. At night they will be spot on but not sure during the day, plus someone told me they need to be visible from the side, I have been trying to get flashers small enough to fit inside the fairing against the mesh rather than behind it. basically to fill the hole.
I thought this way they are more visible from the side.
My other thought was to add extra flashers like LED strips into the plastic undershield where the mesh is there too so you can see from
all angles.
I'm not sure how having 4 rear flashers plus the front two will affect the flash rate though.
I will post picutres later. I have bought about 5 sets of flashers and almost gave up and opted for 2012 Rizoma Action flashers in black instead.
The trouble is on a bike like this it's got to look spot on.
I was considering small LED strips mounted outside on the under plastic as well. Def post a lot of pics guys as all of these are the first mods I will be doing to my bike when it arrives and would like to see a lot of clean applications and ideas!
Begarrett I bought tiny LED lights and not flashers. If it doesn't draw enough current, then I'll have to install the load resistors to avoid the "hyper flashing"...which I'm quite sure that will be the case. I prefer to have a clean tidy look to the rear without flashers sticking out the side. If only someone made a very clean tail tidy that tuck RIGHT up the bottom of the taillights. I may have to make my own as well
Nice workshop there Perfect!
Wow you bought quite a few parts to try this out. I do hope that you succeed in making these hidden indicators work. I'll post some pics when the parts arrive and when I have time to tackle and tinker with such a project.
Which tail tidy is that you have there? Is that LED plate light to your satifaction?
Thanks for sharing. Pics make these forums that much better
Yeah Perfect...nice shop! Very clean. I wonder how much that D3 tail tidy will be to get to the US...I think I'll probably just end up machining my own though once my bike gets here. Great pics and keep posting as the process continues...I'd like to see how it all turns out...PS I think the towels are done! lol
Matam...I don't have my bike yet (should be getting it today or tom, whenever it comes in) but wanna order the HID headlight kit for it. What were the specs on the kit you ordered? Wattage (55 or 35), bulb type (H4, H13, 9004, 9007), bulb color (3000K, 4500K, 5000K, 6000K, etc)??
Yeah, that's exactly what I ordered...if you can, please post pics of your install. I haven't really looked hard yet but feel the batt may be hard to get to? Also I'd like to see where you mount your ballast.
I think u will have just about enough about underneath the left hand air filter intake pipe cover to mountt he ballast unit. You could fix it to the top of the left hand air filter intake pipe.

Perfect...Thanks...I just received my HID kit and gotta admit...it's a lot more equipment than I thought it was gonna be...I'm not sure how I will get all of it mounted with such confined spaces to work...however it will def have to wait till after riding season bc I'm not gonna chance any down time due to being stuck with parts off the bike...
I mounted the stock indicators inside the tail. Took me about two hours (I work slow) and cost me $1.00 since I had to buy some zip ties and the local dollar store.
Now just need to cnc cut a beefy aluminum license plate mount to get rid of the stock bulky unit.
