Ideally I just want the bike a bit louder for when

I assume, you want twin pipe, for .........? Headers pipes, actuator valve (the resticted power) and catalytic converter (the ugly box) they may be weld in one pice ( i got 990 R 2010, than was weld in mine) not to mention they are super heavy ( i think around 22 lb.) compare to MIVV (2 lb.) 9" long (around $375-$400).I change handlebars also. But , is your choise. Merry Christmas Everyone.:violin:

Wow that's a clean looking bike, very nice.
I am not chasing a power increase, already has
plenty for me. I really like the look of the twin
pipe setup.
I will be doing a few long trips with the mrs on
the back so it would be nice if it was not to loud.

Just curious...

Just like billywhizz I replaced the stock headers and the cat with this Arrow inox headers/mid pipe and kept the stock silencers along with the ECU and the Lambda sensor

http://www.evolutionbike.it/mvagustastore/index.php/exhausts/brutale2010/arrow/71450mi.html

It is a perfect setup for my taste - loud enough but not too loud. The bike seems to run cooler and smoother too.
Did you receive instructions of any sort with the headers/midpipe/ECU combo? I have this kit as well, and it looks rather easy to install but i've heard that air injection needs to be blocked off somehow and they include a rubber plug with the ECU that must be used for this purpose.

Thanks!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Ok so I am looking at upstaging just the mufflers
On my 2012 1090r and have been looking at these

I am in traffic, probably getting to old for a full
Open Ti system.
If anyone have used either I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks
Both of these are "race" pipes, i.e. no db killer. I think they are intended to be used with a full system, including "race" ECU. But they look great...

I did contact evolutionbike about them before I ordered them
and was told the ones I picked are not completely open so I am hoping
they will be ok.

I really like the look of them, I will be ordering the rest of the system including the ecu when funds permit. Then I will be able to swap and change to get the combination that's suits.

Don't think they will be here till mid jan so I will have to wait and see.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Arrow 71450MI

Hi jones525,

I received no instructions at all with this manifold. But I only got the headers and the mid pipe - Arrow part number 71450MI. I did not replace the stock ECU. I kept the Lambda (O2) sensor as well. Other forum members like Glenn (G21090) who gave me some advise, have done the same.

The manifold is really easy to install. The more difficult part is removing the stock headers as they are welded through into the cat - so it's one unit. You will need to unmount the oil cooler and get it out of the way but no need to disconnect it from the engine. Also, you'll need to disconnect and remove the cables off the exhaust valve as they are not needed with the Arrow or any other aftermarket mid pipe. Also the cat hangs on two rubber mounts with snap-on rings on the inside, which are a bit difficult to get to but you'll be fine.

I'm very happy with this setup. I've had no issues with it. It did drop about 7-8lbs & cut way down on the heat coming from under the bike. And it opened up the sound, keeping it pretty much the same, albeit it more intense without being obnoxious.

I think somebody had already posted pictures of the installation process. Let me find this post and I'll copy the link here.

Good Luck!

You didn't get an error code at all? In my recent service, the software re-calibrated the operation of the exhaust valve - it took it from closed to full open to closed again. If the motor is left on without cables, that process would not be possible.

It kind of depends what you want. Arrow and MV Corse manifold/mid pipe are pretty much same. I think the MV Corse manifold is manufactured by Arrow anyway. The possible applications are with stock ECU and lambda sensor or with race ECU and no lambda sensor. Some people add Microtec or PCV on top of the race ECU to smooth out power delivery. Perhaps the race ECU alone is "snatchier" than the stock one. I guess the race ECU will increase power but IMHO the bike is powerful enough with stock ECU as well.

ok this is interesting, this is what we did on tony brutale bike 1090 new headers and mid pipe, left original cans, just tied the wires up under the bike ,but replaced the ecu with a race ecu and pc5 ,had it dyno tuned ,well just perfect,no snatchy throttle what so ever, full control from 1250 rpm to whatever. are you getting the same results, just curious.I also understand that the Microtec will give you similiar results.
cheers eddy

Why did you put in a PCV on top? Isn't the race ECU enough?

I'm asking as I have the MV race kit (headers and ECU) lying in my garage. Will install it after the engine is broken in......

There is an easy test you can to see how snatchy the fueling is, from idle try revving it gradually to between 1500 - 2000 rpm, when mine had the race ECU it was impossible, it jumped from idle to 2000 rpm, sort of like a switch. With the microtec its progressive all the way as it should be from MV!

You think that is bad? Try doing the same with the stock ECU on "rain" mode. Not only it will jump, but the bike will also take about 10 seconds to realize you started revving it. And that is when it is hot!

Ok so I have fitted the mv corse cans and pretty happy with them as they have db killers you can remove. Bit of a weight saving also, didn't weigh them but you can feel the difference between them.
With the db killers in they are pretty close noise wise to the stock cans, just a little deeper.
Take the db killers out and it is exactly what I wanted. Loud enough to be heard in traffic but not obnoxious.
I will be getting the arrow pipe to decat the bike and keep the O2 sensor.

They look really nice Mitch
are they in titanium or stainless steel ?
I think I will also go with that set up , including the decat, once I have
the cash..
Btw how much did you pay for them?
cheers

Thanks fellas I am pretty happy with the way she is looking and performing.
The carbon tips on the exhaust go really well with the carbon hugger.

Sure do....maybe get some rearsets with carbon protector? :naughty:

(stock rearsets are pretty lousy...especially in the wet)

I have these, but there are better / worse and pricier / cheaper on the market - Site Sponsors are all brilliant !:yo:

Very nice MVMitch!

This is the setup i will go for with my Brutale.

One question though: is the noise level also much more than standard with the DB killers in them? Just ask because we got noise restrictions at our nearby tracks where even a standard Panigale gets kicked off....
