1. Since I have an 04, my rear sprocket is not the quick change version, so it is impossible to remove the rear sprocket without first removing the rear wheel, correct?

2. If I need to remove the rear wheel, I cannot use the stock rear stand, is there a swing-arm pivot/footpeg stand available in the US that can be used for this?

3. Reasonably priced quick change sprocket and chain kits, where to buy?

Thanks!

Damn - about to do a 300km run to Canberra this weekend, and I sense something is a little awry with the front suspension.

I have noticed a little over steer in slow sharp corners.

When the bike is stationery, and the front bake applied to compress the front shocks, there is a slight knock in the left suspension arm about 6-10 centimetres into the compression.

I recently had the front bearings replaced, so I can rule that out.

I scanned the forum form front suspension noise, and cannot find anything.

As always, your expert advice and informed thoughts are greatly welcomed. I am considering dropping the bike into the local service to get their views, as riding 300km on a dodgy front end does not excite me?

I have a pitbull reversable rear stand and a front stand, but i'm not sure this will support the bike and let me get at the bearing.

My F4 1000S has developed a problem. The battery doesn't hold enough of a charge to turn the engine over.
I have hooked the battery up to a charger and left it for a couple hours. after that the bike did start and idled for a little while and then cut out. The battery light was on the entire time.
after charging the battery again i took a volt meter to it and it registered around 14.2 volts with the key in the off position. I then started the bike again and the voltage dropped to about 11.7 and then relatively quickly kept dropping until the bike died again.
i took it to my local shop, which has been very reliable, and they told me it was the alternator. Before i drop around $1000 for the part and labor i wanted to see if there was any other suggestions from the forum as to what else it may be.

I love the bike more than anything, but it has been a rough summer with repairs. It has been in the shop more than out. thanks in advance.

I have changed the oil and filter on plenty of bikes before but never seen the oil level behave like this before.
1st drain oil when hot. Done.
Remove and replace drain plug and filter. Done.
Fill to high mark, bike level, start engine to fill filter. Done.
Refill to high mark with engine off. Start again to check level. Done.

When I start the engine the level drops from the high mark to the low mark, then returns when turned off.
Is this normal? What point is the right level?
When I put in enough oil so that the level is just above the min mark when running, it goes out of sight above the max mark when turned off.
Normal? Does the oil pump suck up so much on start up. The oil light goes out before the engine fires so I assume good pressure.
