Brutale 1090rr suspension setting

Hi guys, first of all i wanted to congratulate for this great forum!! I have read it for the last couple of years and at last i could buy my first MV, a 2010 brutale 1090rr!!

I started to fiddle with the suspension and the owners manual wasnt so clear on the front suspension preload.. Can someone guide me on how should i set up the compression, rebound and preloads on my bike?

I mainly do fast street/highway driving.. I like o brake hard and turn quick, at least as hard and quick as i can!! Hahaha

Any help would be much apprciated!!! Thanksss

Did you get any manuals with the bike?
Front preload by the book is 2 turns from full out, 16 clicks from full in for both rebound and compression - road settings.

Set it up as the manual says and it's spot on (for me anyway), I did this at zero miles and never touched it since.

my settings were on a seperate sheet in the back of the manual.i tried it in the race settings and it nearly broke my back,now im set on street settings but just starting to feel its a little too soft.

I would be interested if anyone knows the rear spring rate. I have been having bottoming out issues on book settings (222mm ride height, 22mm sag) and I only weigh 176lbs (80kg).
I was surprised that the bike as delivered was set up at 215mm ride height with 15mm of sag. I didn't alter any settings until after 2000kms, so everything should have run in by then.
I have improved it with 222mm ride height and 15mm sag, and then more compression dampening. Turn-in and stability feels great.

I got the attached separate sheet and set it up as it said, but the front preload confused me. Is the standard position fully turned anticlockwise? From here should i make 2 turns clockwise?

Or is it the other way round? Say std position fully turned clockwise and then 2 turns anticlokwise?

I havent touched the rear spring preload. How much should the spring measure? Is that what you revhead are talking about? What does sag mean?

Sag is the distance the bike drops under its own weight (static), or under its own weight and that of the rider (Dynamic).

For some odd reason, MV doesn't use a dynamic sag number. In order to set sag properly, you will need a way to measure from the rear axle to a fixed point on the bike. the knurl and X bikes sell tools for this.

You don't need anything special to set the front sag. Just measure from the top of the axle to a fixed point, for example the bottom of the lower triple clamp.

Hi all 2011 B4 1090RR newb here, The previous owner of my bike was a self confessed larger bloke ( I didn"t see him ), however the suspension setup was not as listed in the owners manual with the bike (Part N. 8000B3377 revisionone 1) as above. 6 turns fork pre-load for a start - no wonder it was head shaking with my 70kg on-board! back to 2 turns waaay more feel and not as angry! The Suspension Setup table in the Owner's Manual I downloaded From Donsy's link
(love your Work Dons) for the 2011 Bikes is quite different (Part N. 8000B3377 revisione 2) particularly for the rear settings;- solo rebound 24 clicks v's 15. My bike is an 04/2011 build does anyone know if the rear damper was actually changed and if so when? CIAO Phil
