It is terrible and disgusting, and will have the poor ecu using it as an excuse later in life for antisocial behaviour. ie "the scoutmaster flashed his tronkus at me!"

I find great humor in your reply at the same time I assume you also have no clue what this term truly means. Overherd it used by a dyno technician.

Got the info I needed. Google was my friend on this matter. Sounds like a great alternative to a power commander or other aftermarket fuel management system.

I thought flashing the ECU was what you did to set it back to factory specs. I believe this gets rid of any little niggles it picked up and as a result was corrupted.

Am I close ?

It is a somewhat erroneous description of what is done when a tech with appropriate equipment downloads new software into the ROM (memory) of the ECU. Basically they are overwriting the programming (we call it maps, but there is more to it than that word insinuates) with new programming.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
