more stress - clutch pushrod

whilst i seem to be carrying out a multitude of jobs on my 312r - renewing stem and hub bearings fixing oil leaks at the sump and gearbox cover - awaiting the return of my forks from maxton i thought i would search the forum for the best options on chain and sprocket sets and happened to come accross a post warning that taking the clutch pushrod out from the left side of the bike will result in having to remove the clutch - ugh more stress!!

looking in the engine manual(which i failed to do prior to removing the slave cylinder otherwise i would have known better) it says removing pushrod from left side of the bike may damage a seal - what seal? what do you guys recommend ? will i get away with leaving well alone will i have caused any damage.

Not quite sure why you want to remove the push rod? or did you remove the slave cylinder and pulled the rod out by accident. The 312 does not have the part that drops off on the clutch side as far as I can remember, so you should be okay to push the rod back in, hopefully the seals did not get damaged by the grooves on the rod.

You'll be ok Colin..There's nothing to drop off at the clutch end of your model...It was much earlier bikes..Too early in the morning for me to look up but yours is fine.

Also, My 2007 pushrod had no grooves on it either...Has yours ?

Just picking up on this thread - I've nosed through others which have got me a little concerned.

Was aware of issue when I took the sprocket cover off, so tried to keep it in place, but think it must have come out about a good quarter of the way when I caught it with the rag!

It went back in fine, though, and the cover is back on ok. Do I even need to worry?
