looking at a 2008 989R

Hey guys im new here from Australia and im buying my first road bike tomorrow if all go's well when im looking at it, its a Brutale 989R 2008 model completely stock,

Any advice on things i should be looking for would be great,so far im going to be checking the wear on the pegs and gear changing lever for excessive wear the bike has done 14500klms,tyers are 500klms old and my mate said to look at the steering stops to make sure they dont look like they smashed on the bottom triple clamp which would indicate its been crashed and oil leaks.

Any thing else u guys could recommend i look for?

Maintenance records.

Fuel lines inside tank should have been replaced.

Bought it! Only problem I found was headlight and blinkers not working but I guessing its not going to be a major problem to fix

Any ideas as to why they don't work?

Hey George Welcome, and congrats on the Brute

Download the Users Manual and Workshop Manual

I can't remember off the top of my head, but one of them has an excellent Trouble Shooting section that will answer your questions hopefully. But, with the knowledge base here, someone will chime in soon.

Hi George, search on 'headlight lens' and 'rear wheel bearings' the Headlight lens is an expensive repair if you don't get to it first, if u can feel any movement between the Glass Lens and the plastic surround then you're close to having the lens itself fall out, in fact if there is movement a good tug (the lens, the lens) will most likely see it pop off. As for Rear wheel Bearing, keep a close eye on it, good maintainence is the real key, do the searches some good reading and advice in here.
